People across our city and region, including your own friends and neighbours, have been deeply affected by COVID-19.
Individuals and families who were already experiencing #UNIGNORABLE issues of poverty continue to face overwhelming challenges. People are struggling to put food on the table. Paying rent is a daily worry for many and now – Christmas is coming.
With winter looming and cases on the rise, people and families are going to need your help more than ever. That’s why we are asking you to SHOW YOUR LOCAL LOVE and give generously to help ensure no need goes unmet.
Make a donation to the United Way RECOVER 2020 campaign today.
The United Way of Thunder Bay RECOVER 2020 campaign is focused on supporting the immediate needs of local people and families. It’s about neighbours helping neighbours and community supporting community.
We cannot do this alone; we must recover together as a community.
Help the most vulnerable as our
community recovers together.
Many local people could not prepare for how COVID-19 has affected their lives. The United Way of Thunder Bay has launched the RECOVER 2020 campaign to help local people and the community to get back on track. Our campaign will provide essential support to front-line agencies and partners to help ensure that people’s basic needs are met in the coming months ahead. Get involved by donating, volunteering or participating in an event or workplace campaign.
Your donation stays 100% local, always.
Tbaytel would like to thank the United Way Thunder Bay for the incredible work they've always done for our community but in particular, their continued efforts to make sure some of the most vulnerable members of our community are taken care of in these unprecedented times. That's why Tbaytel didn't hesitate to support Local Love Day by matching donations up to $10,000. It's a great way to encourage those in our community to give back what they can, if they can. We're in it together.
Dan TopatighThe United Way of Thunder Bay has always been a great organization for supporting our community and region, and we need them now more than ever. What we give to the United Way goes to work where it is most needed, and many of us see the results on the streets. Food and shelter, essential services, and new beginnings are made possible by our donations and the United Way. My heartfelt thanks to the United Way of Thunder Bay, and the volunteers and donors who care so much.
Michael GravelleCovid-19 has illustrated and amplified the many inequalities and social injustices that exist in Thunder Bay including racism, poverty and homelessness. While we all want the pandemic to end we must be determined not to return to the status quo of haves and have nots. This is a unique opportunity to level the playing field and provide opportunities for all. Thunder Bay Public Library stands in solidarity with the Indigenous community, with Black Lives Matter, and with those who have the greatest needs. That is why we are supporting the United Way's Show Your Local Love Day.
John PatemanAs we approach the holiday season of a very challenging year, it's more important now more than ever that we support people, organizations and businesses in our community. Please reflect on 2020, and think about how you can make an impact on the lives of others through kindness and generosity. Let's earn our motto of "The City with a Giant Heart"
Michael NitzAs a corporate leader in the community, Copperfin is pleased to support Show Your Local Love Day. As we continue to grapple with the COVID-19 pandemic, we want to encourage everyone as we near Christmas to reach out and Show Your Local Love. Support a small business, consider donating to the United Way Recovery Effort, or spend some time with someone less fortunate. Regardless of what you do, remember to Share the Love.
Allison KasperResolute is proud to support Show Your Local Love Day and we encourage our employees and Thunder Bay residents to shop local, check in on a friend or neighbour, and consider giving to the recovery effort undertaken by United Way and its partner agencies. Our Northwestern Ontario operations combined forces earlier this year to make a $25,000 contribution to the Thunder Bay COVID-19 Community Respond Fund, and we continue to support response efforts through in-kind donations, such as providing masks to local health initiatives.
Michael Martel & Kent RamsayNewmont Musselwhite Mine has always been very happy to have a longstanding partnership with United Way of Thunder Bay. Our community and surrounding area looks to organizations like United Way now, more than ever during these difficult times, and the support they provide helps countless individuals and families right here at home. By participating in Show Your Local Love Day, I wish to thank all who continuously put in the tireless and determined effor of helping those who need it most.
Don BurkeCanadians have been facing a public health and economic crisis like none other in our lifetime. Overnight, people from all walks of life and all backgrounds saw their lives and ways of life change. All of this disruption is not easy, and communities were not immune from the upheaval. Not only were community supports and services needed even more, but they had to reimagine how to support the people they serve. But time and again, the deep compassion, resiliency and determination of Canadians to stand together has shone through. The United Way of Thunder Bay has been there every step of the way, helping the organizations that help all of us. They truly know that we are indeed stronger together.
Patty HadjuThe Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce invites you to participate in Show Your Local Love Day. One of the ways you can show your local love is by buying, dining, and shopping local. In turn, local businesses support good work in our community - the kind of work supported by the United Way and carried out by United Way funded agencies and social service providers. Support local, shop local, give local. That's your local love in action.
Charla RobinsonThrough my years of involvement with United Way of Thunder Bay I have witnessed so much local love. From the generous donors to the many local organizations whose work impacts our community by helping those in need, the people of Thunder Bay have shown their local love, time and time again. Now more than ever, we need to look out for one another. Please take this opportunity to donate to United Way and show your local love for our community. Because we are, and always will be, stronger together.
Kelly GallagherWhile there are always people who need assistance, as result of the COVID-19 pandemic there are that many more who need our help. Because of the United Way's strong history of helping those in need, the federal government partnered with them to provide much-needed emergency assistance to vulnerable populations in our region. In support of Show Your Local Love Day, I want to wish the United Way continued success with their RECOVER 2020 campaign and encourage those who are able to participate.
Marcus PowlowskiThese are challenging and uncertain times. The stronger the sense of connection-local people working together in a united way-the more resilient the community. As United Way supporters, we encourage everyone to get behind the RECOVER 2020 campaign and show that we are a community that cares about each other. And that we are resilient. Together, we can help Thunder Bay get back on track.

If you are fortunate to have food, clothing, a warm home and personal supports around you, please consider helping those who are not as fortunate. We can all give something, no matter how small, to help others in their time of need.

Penny BelluzThis pandemic has had a significant impact on everyone. For some people and communities, however, the impacts of COVID-19 have been more profound. We are very appreciative that the United Way and the many Agencies that it supports are there to help meet the needs of those who have been disproportionately affected by COVID-19. Showing Your Local Love and supporting the RECOVER 2020 Campaign are meaningful ways we can help each other get through this... We are all in this together!
