Our new Community Impact Plan has three core goals to help lift local people out of poverty. The focus is to bring Thunder Bay together to address the root causes and impacts of poverty; to build a more inclusive and connected community; and to support all children and youth to succeed in school.
A Connected & Inclusive Community
Creating an inclusive community where all people are honoured, included and feel supported with access to the supports and services they need.
We work in a facilitation role to bring local individuals and organizations together to address unmet community needs. Together with local partners, we are building a more connected and collaborative community.
Cross-Sector Collaboration Forum
To help foster collective action, in November 2019, the United Way of Thunder Bay, the Lakehead Social Planning Council, and the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce partnered to host the Thunder Bay Cross-Sector Collaboration Forum, which included more than 100 individuals from various backgrounds including municipal government, non-profit organizations, the business community various groups and agencies, as well as individual community members. The vision was for these individuals to collectively create goals that would improve lives and build a healthier, more inclusive, prosperous community for all. To learn more about ideas that came from this meeting, please see our detailed report here:
When you support United Way of Thunder Bay, you’re helping to build a strong social safety net for everyone who lives here. This means that people have access to all the supports they need the most, when and where they need them. These are some examples of the many lives that have been changed because of you.
