United Way of Thunder Bay is excited to launch our Board Shadowing Program – a new opportunity for young professionals to engage with local leadership, gain firsthand governance experience, and build meaningful community connections.
This initiative is part of our broader mission to empower the next generation of changemakers, while strengthening the future of nonprofit leadership in our region.
Who is it for?
Young adults aged 20–39 in Thunder Bay and surrounding communities who are interested in:
Program Highlights:
✔ Shadow a local nonprofit Board
✔ Gain mentorship from experienced Board members
✔ Attend board meetings and training sessions
✔ Learn about governance, collaboration, and social impact
This program will run from September 2025 to April 2026, and is modeled after the successful “Young Leaders on Board” initiative from UWCNEO.

🔹 Nonprofit agencies interested in hosting a Board intern can apply until August 15, 2025.
