Urgent Needs Fund

With the support of Tbaytel, United Way of Thunder Bay is establishing the 211 Urgent Needs Fund to help individuals and families facing crisis situations in our community.

This fund will provide financial assistance to help households at risk of poverty with time-sensitive, urgent needs that can’t be covered by other supports.

We invite donors to consider contributing to the Urgent Needs Fund so that Thunder Bay and Region residents who are faced with an unexpected financial crisis, will have a vital lifeline they can turn to.

Please note that while the fund is being established, applications are not yet open. More details on how individuals can access support from the Urgent Needs Fund will be shared once the program officially launches.

Stay tuned for updates on when the Urgent Needs Fund will be available.

In the meantime, residents in need of assistance can call 2-1-1 to connect with a trained 211 North Community Resource Specialist, who can provide information on existing programs and services. The service is free, confidential, and available 24/7, 365 days a year. Learn More about 211 here.

Since its launch in 2008, 211 North has served communities across Northern Ontario, connecting residents with critical resources to navigate life’s challenges. Managed by the Lakehead Social Planning Council in Thunder Bay, 211 North operates as part of an accredited Community Information & Referral Centre.

In times of rising costs and uncertainty, the 211 Urgent Needs Fund provides a lifeline for those in need—thanks to the generosity of donors like you.

Take action today. Help us make a difference in our community by donating to the Urgent Needs Fund and supporting those facing urgent challenges.
