Wasaya Airways in partnership with the United Way of Thunder Bay proudly presented the Wasaya – United Way Plane Pull on Saturday September 23rd. The event took place at the Wasaya Airways Hangar with11 teams (76 participants) competing to pull a Goldcorp Dash 8-300 (a 26,327 lb plane) a total distance of 50 feet in the fastest time to win!
The weather was warm and the competition was fierce! Organizers were thrilled with the turnout, seeing many families and friends out to support the teams in their efforts. “It is just so inspiring to see the display of sportsmanship and sense of community at this event.” said United Way Campaign Director, Jodie Wilson, “Everyone really is ‘pulling together’ for a great cause!”
Over $18,500 was raised in support of the United Way of Thunder Bay and the Northwestern Ontario Aboriginal Youth Achievement and Recognition Awards! This is a $1,500 increase over the inaugural event in 2016.
