Funding Opportunity For Local Youth Programs
From October 16th – December 8th, students from all eight local high schools are getting creative and raising money in support of the United Way of Thunder Bay as part of the Youth 4 Community Fundraising and Granting Initiative. The Youth 4 Community Fund is a way of encouraging young people to get involved in philanthropy, build community awareness and learn new skills while helping to address needs in our community around youth priorities. These student-raised funds will be reserved for local youth programs, services and projects. Registered charitable organizations in Thunder Bay can apply for these funds by submitting the Youth 4 Community Application form which is now available at www.uwaytbay.ca. The deadline to apply is January 12, 2018.
‘All that kids can be’ is one of the United Way of Thunder Bay’s three focus areas. The Youth 4 Community Fund will provide support to programs, services and projects in the following areas: Youth recreation and neighbourhood youth hubs; Youth Involvement/Leadership and this year, the funding will also promote diversity and work to address the issues of racism and discrimination in Thunder Bay as it relates to youth.
To see if your organization is eligible for funding through this initiative, or if you have questions about the process, please visit the United Way website at www.uwaytbay.ca or contact Sandra Albertson, Director of Community Impact at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The totals raised, along with the programs that will receive the funds, will be announced in April 2018.
