Changed lives, made possible by you.

Thank you for your support

Anything you want is on the other side of fear."" I think that this is so true because change does not come from comfort and spending time in your safe little world.  It was very difficult to see the enormity of needs by so many in Thunder Bay.  This experience has been an eye opener and will stay with me forever.  I am so glad that I was chosen as the Sponsored Employee to the United Way because their slogan is "Change Starts Here".  I now see that it also starts with me!  When I now hear or see the words "United Way", I will always think back to the wonderful memories, the friendships and a better understanding I have of the challenges in our community.  Just as the United Way team leave no stone unturned, I too hope I can do the same to make this community  better place for everyone!"

"I have supported the United Way for many years as an Employee Campaign Chair at my RBC Royal Bank branch.  The experience of being a Sponsored Employee has taken me out of my comfort zone; the benefits have been numerous and have positively enhanced both my professional and personal life.

With a new sense of accomplishment, I am proud to do the hard work that it takes to raise funds the provide so many services in Thunder Bay.  With seeing how so many benefit from these programs I will always donate and volunteer.  I will never forget this valuable, life changing experience."

"The Sponsored Employee program allowed us to have an employee participate in the United Way campaign to not only support the United Way with resources other than cash but more so for the development, experience and learnings of the employee.

Right from the start of the process of recruiting candidates, going through the selection process, training and exposure to others in the same position was a great development tool for us and the employee.  Being pushed out of their comfort zones on occasion and liaising with other companies and employees in addition to becoming intimate with the good works of the United Way, only served to strengthen their resolve and share their experience and learning with others in the workplace and promote further participation."

Gerry Heinrichs
District Manager

"For me, being a sponsored employee was about giving back to the community.  I was extremely fortunate and happy to be a sponsored employee for the United Way.  It's a great experience and one I wouldn't trade in at all. It was an opportunity to get a first hand look and appreciation of the work that goes into helping out the community by raising money for various community agencies.  By keeping in mind the goal we are trying to achieve as a community, we try to make a positive difference in peoples lives.  The United Way is an organization that I strongly believe in as does my company Richardson's.  Thank you for giving me that opportunity."

"As a past sponsored employee with the United Way, I feel very honoured and fortunate to have had the opportunity to have worked with such a dedicated group of individuals.  I never really realized the need in our community until i was able to reach out to the different agencies and witness first had all the amazing individuals who work and volunteer their time to help others in need.  I am so grateful to my employer CIBC for allowing me this opportunity to work in the community and give back.  It truly was an amazing experience both personally and professionally and I will always support the United Way."
