GenNext is excited to announce that we are bringing our community MINI DAYS OF CARING, Presented By Resolute Forest Products and Thunder Bay & District Labour Council

Our traditional Day of Caring is a one-day event (usually held every June) that creates impact, bringing together dedicated individuals and local community groups for a fun day of volunteering by completing projects to benefit Thunder Bay!! Each year, we usually have upwards of 150 volunteers that come out to help with approximately 15 community projects including jobs such as cleaning up neighbourhoods, gardening, painting (inside and out), cleaning up offices, moving equipment or furniture, volunteering at special events/client service projects, helping to prepare meals, and more.

We are devastated that COVID-19 has put a halt to this fun day of volunteering the last two years … AND this is why we want to introduce the newly re-designed MINI DAYS OF CARING!!

What is Mini Days of Caring?
Caring for our community shouldn’t take place in just one day. Really, it should be EVERYDAY. So, we are going to be doing an OPEN CALL for the rest of the year for any type of projects or volunteer needs. We want to help local organizations and groups in our community with what they need, whether that be a project that they need help with or simply a few extra volunteers for an activity that they are doing. AND, on the flip side, we want to offer these meaningful opportunities to family, friend, and workplace groups that want to get involved, be engaged in community, and give back to help support the city we call home. And, did we mention that Mini Days of Caring is an Inter-generational opportunity!! People of all ages are welcome!

PARTICIPATING IN MINI DAYS OF CARING IS SIMPLE:

LOOKING TO VOLUNTEER?

We want to provide your family, friend, or workplace group with a meaningful opportunity to volunteer and give back by participating in Mini Days of Caring. Participating as a business provides you with a unique team-building and community engagement opportunity for your employees. We encourage our volunteers to leave their wallets at home and instead donate their time and skills to help complete projects for local organizations and groups who need our help. Past volunteers have enjoyed getting their hands dirty and being able to see the results of their efforts right away, along with feeling a sense of pride and accomplishment when they are able to make such a difference and impact for local organizations that need help.

We want to ensure that COVID-19 regulations are followed and encourage you to sign up for one of the projects below with a group of people that are already together with on a regular basis. Volunteer opportunities will be on a first come, first serve basis.

Signing up to volunteer is simple: 1. Review the volunteer opportunities below 2. Pick the one that interests you / your volunteer group most 3. Sign your volunteer group up under the project you wish to help with 4. We will connect with you and the project lead and coordinate the project
