Many local people could not, and cannot, afford to prepare for how COVID-19 is affecting their lives. The United Way of Thunder Bay has partnered with the Thunder Bay Community Foundation to establish a COVID-19 Community Relief Fund. The fund provides emergency relief to front-line agencies and partners to help ensure that people’s basic needs are met during this unprecedented public health challenge.


Together, we our supporting local community and social service providers to mobilize help for those who need it most. The collaborative fund provides one place for donors to support community members affected by the pandemic with basic needs such as food, clothing, hygiene products, shelter and crisis counselling.

Local agencies can apply for funding through the Thunder Bay Community Foundation’s online grant platform, located here

Northern Credit Union Partnership

Northern Credit Union has established a COVID-19 Relief fund in partnership with United Way. They are generously providing a corporate matching donation via this fund. Communities involved in this fund cover five United Ways in Ontario; Thunder Bay, Norther Eastern Ontario, Eastern Ontario, Bruce Grey and Sault Ste. Marie & Algoma District and represent each community in which Northern Operates.
