Recovery Is Right Around The Corner

The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), founded in 1918, is one of the oldest voluntary organizations in Canada. The Thunder Bay Branch was first organized in 1955 by a volunteer group of citizens concerned about a lack of community services and public awareness for mental health. In 1975, the Thunder Bay Branch was officially chartered as a branch of the national organization. Today they are an accredited organization providing a comprehensive range of recovery based mental health services. CMHA has a vision for an inclusive community that promotes emotional wellbeing, human dignity and social justice where people are valued and opportunities in all aspects of life are available to everyone. As such it is committed to supporting individual recovery and promoting mental wellness within families and communities.

United Way of Thunder Bay is leading the way to a better community by improving the quality of life for all local people. By collaborating with community partners, we are leading the way to addressing social issues in our community and investing in three critical areas: Poverty, Kids and Strong Communities. Donations to the United Way are strategically invested across Thunder Bay to many vital programs and initiatives in these areas, creating a social safety net that works to achieve lasting change for our neighbours, families and friends.
