Old Bags and Young Hearts

In honour of longtime employee Linda Hutton’s recent retirement announcement, the women of RBC held an ‘Old Bags Lunch’ to auction off gently used purses with all proceeds going to the United Way of Thunder Bay. This event not only inspired the staff to become involved, but the children of the staff as well.  Mara Kunnas “the money counter” (age 9), Nicole Simeoni “the bracelet maker”( (age 9), and Maya Simeoni “the cookie baker”  age 7) contributed by baking cookies, making purses and rainbow loom bracelets which they were responsible for selling at the event.  The commendable efforts of the RBC employees and the three Nor’Wester View students raised $1,618.50 for the United Way; $218.50 of which was from the girls efforts alone!

The United Way of Thunder Bay would like to extend a big thank you the girls and the employees of RBC for their continued dedication and efforts to help our community.

United Way of Thunder Bay is leading the way to a better community by improving the quality of life for all local people. By collaborating with community partners, we are leading the way to addressing social issues in our community and investing in three critical areas: Poverty, Kids and Strong Communities. Donations to the United Way are strategically invested across Thunder Bay to many vital programs and initiatives in these areas, creating a social safety net that works to achieve lasting change for our neighbours, families and friends.
